Accommodations

Caye Caulker caters to international backpackers and budget travelers. It is a common stop on the Ruta Maya which encompasses Belize, Mexico, Guatemala and Honduras. Caye Caulker now boasts luxury, yet still affordable accommodations. Lodging choices are varied and colorful with more than 60 guesthouses and hotels. Luxury accommodations (Over $50 U.S. a night) include Alamina Beach House Apartment, Auxillou Beach Suites, Blue Haven Caye Caulker, Caye Caulker Condos, Costa Maya Cabanas, Diane's Beach House, Jan's Place, Lazy Iguana Bed & Breakfast, Popeye's Beach Resort, Seaside Cabanas, and Sailwinds. Most hotels are moderate accommodations (around $50 U.S. a night) like Alamina Beach House Efficiency Apartment, Barrier Reef Rooms, De Real Macaw, Chateau Giselle, Motel 1788, Trends Beachfront or Trends Hotel on Front Street , Tree Tops (voted by Rough Guide to Belize - best on Caye Caulker, and maybe all of Belize, in its price range), and Tropical Paradise Hotel. Many hotels are basic, no frills, budget category (under $25 U.S. a night), having shared baths, electricity, hot water and ceiling fans. Tropical Paradise Hotel also has budget rooms for under $25 U.S. Tina's Backpacker Hostel ($8 U.S. a night) is located beachfront, 1 minute north of the main pier. The small, inexpensive family owned hotels sometimes have no email or internet access and do not accept reservations, walk in only. You can book a room online with Treasured Travels, a booking agent for many Caye Caulker hotels and guesthouses. When you arrive at the Caye Caulker Water Taxi dock, porters are available for 5 bzd ($2.50 U.S.) to help you with your luggage and to help you find a room for the night.
